Back surgery recovery time?

On october 31st, I had a microdisectomy on my L3-L4 discs. I’m 16 years old, so I was not too worried about recovery time. I play football and I think thats how I hurt it anyway. I’ve already done 6-8 weeks of intensive physical therapy, but its still sore and not to flexible. I have no leg pain… but still. When should it be ready, and what can I do to help? My doctor says its normal for a few months.

Full recovery takes about a year or two. You should be largely better by now, but can continue to see improvements over this period of time.
